Student-teachers’ Black identities have barely been documented in initial teacher education. Although some studies have focused on their cultural experiences, their identities are still unexplored to understand teacher education. This is why this study adopts a narrative perspective to address, through life story interviews, the identity formation and experience of a Black woman and student-teacher at a public university in Bogotá, Colombia. By dwelling on her experience, this study reflects upon how, although Black students deny their identities when learning a foreign language and becoming teachers, their personal and historical backgrounds work to position themselves politically and ideologically. Race and body become intersectional categories to comprehend their processes of resistance. This exploration also discusses how discursive representations have a stake in the constitution of Black identities in teacher education.

ARTICLE INFOThe bilingual learning method is a learning method that uses two languages to deliver curriculum material, with the aim of developing students' competence in foreign languages. Based on observations so far at MI Islamiyah Al-Wathaniyah Mojoanyar with Jombang, the bilingual learning method has been applied for approximately four years. From here, researchers are interested in the effect of bilingual learning methods at MI Islamiyah Al-Wathaniyah Mojoanyar Bareng Jombang on students' learning motivation. This study aims to determine the impact of bilingual learning on students' learning motivation at the school. This research is included in quantitative analysis using ex post facto research. The data was obtained as ordinal data from a questionnaire compiled using a Likert scale. The sample of this study was 34 students, taken randomly using the probability sampling technique from a total population of 170 students in grades 1, 2, and 3 of the bilingual programs. To test the hypothesis, the researcher used the Spearman rank correlation test. The results of this study conclude that bilingual learning affects students' learning motivation at MI Islamiyah Al-Wathaniyah Mojoanyar Bareng Jombang, with a significance value of 0.001 smaller than 0.05. The level of correlation is high and has a positive direction with a correlation coefficient of 0.553. It can be concluded that the more maximally bilingual learning is carried out, the greater the students' motivation to learn.

Someone recently suggested to me: “war is more profitable than peace” (J. Rodríguez, personalcommunication, October 24th, 2017). This prompted my consideration of the idea that peaceconstruction in multiple settings could entail purposes other than the taken-for-granted and literalones (Aldana, in press). In this reflective article, within the journal’s language and conflict theme,I will discuss discourses related to the handling of peace construction in order to examine itstransformation in governmental, academic and media documents up to 2019. Documentscontaining the word peace in various contexts were selected, and as such the period varied. Thework is approached from my position as a mixed-race educator and researcher with a decolonialand critical epistemological perspective. This qualitative exploratory study approaches peaceconstruction in ELT from a field of methodological uncertainties and a creative toolbox. Bothhistoricizing and critical discourse analysis resources are employed in an inclusionary manner toachieve the eventualisation (Restrepo, 2008) of multiple ways of understanding and referring tothe construction of peace in ELT. In this sense, the role of language appears as an underlyingstarting point. The results discuss the discourse about pacification for progress in ELT as adiscursive event with different universal and market interests. It constitutes an alternative readingof peace construction in ELT as linked to seemingly disperse discursive events mediated bylanguage in real documents.
