In vivonon-invasive optical imaging of temperature-sensitive co-polymeric nanohydrogel

Abstract: Assessment of hyperthermia in pathological tissue is a promising strategy for earlier diagnosis of malignant tumors. In this study, temperature-sensitive co-polymeric nanohydrogel poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (PNIPA-co-AA) was successfully synthesized by the precipitation polymerization method. The diameters of nanohydrogels were controlled to be less than 100 nm. Also the lower critical solution temperature (LCST, 40 °C) was manipulated above physiological temperature after integration of near-… Show more

“…Targeted nanoscaled chitosan (CS)‐based DDSs are the subject of interest as targeted carriers of therapeutics and diagnostics agents to cancer cells, which have improved systemic performance in cancer detection and therapy (Figure ; Chen et al, ; Park et al, ). The CS, as natural biopolymer, has excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, great bioavailability, hydrophilicity, and low toxicity, and it has also practical application in different forms including nanomicelles, NPs, microspheres, hydrogels, biofilms, and tablets (Rege, Garmise, & Block, ; Rezvani, Mohammadnejad, Narmani, & Bidaki, ).…”

“…This self-built imaging system was reported in our previous work, as shown in Fig. 1b [33]. In brief, the NIR imaging system is composed of an excitation laser (λ=765.9 nm, NL-FC-2.0-763 laser light), a high sensitivity NIR CCD camera (PIXIS 512B, Princeton Instrument) and an 800-nm-long pass filter for capturing the emitting fluorescence from the tissue.…”

“…10 Solutions and suspensions of polymers with a LCST behavior are characterized by a transition from clear to turbid solutions when heated, and this transition temperature is denoted the cloud point temperature of the solution. The temperature-induced phase transition is an entropically driven process, which is based on the increased mobility of the water molecules that are released into the bulk water upon dehydration.…”
