“…Similarly, a statistically significant association between the C242T polymorphism and hypertension has been reported by Ji et al [33]. Subsequent studies [34-40] have been conducted to investigate the association between the C242T polymorphism and hypertension. However, the results have generated considerable controversy.…”

“…Studies were conducted from 2003 to 2013 among various ethnicities (four studies involved in Caucasians and four involved Asians). Three studies were population-based [34,35,37] and five were hospital-based studies [33,36,38-40]. Genotyping was consistently performed in these studies by PCR.…”

“…The clinical, anthropometric and laboratory characteristics of studied subjects according to C242T genotypes are shown in Table 1. Given the described dominant effect of the T allele in functional and association studies [7], [10], [11], [23][25] TT subjects were added to CT subjects. No differences in the clinical and laboratory characteristics were detected between the genotype subgroups.…”

“…The p22-phox C242T polymorphism was analyzed by polymerase chain reaction and digestion with Rsa-I restriction enzyme as those reported previously [10]. Quality control for these assays was assessed by randomly selecting 100 samples to be re-genotyped by two independent technicians.…”
