Alternaria infectoria species‐group associated with black point of wheat in Argentina

Abstract: Regional surveys are being conducted in Argentina to assess the presence of wheat ( Triticum aestivum ) pathogens on grains across the main cropping area. During 2001 and 2002, grain samples with a dark brown or blackish discoloration around the embryo end, known as black point, were observed on several cultivars across the wheat region of Buenos Aires Province.Seed analysis by blotter and agar tests (Neergaard, 1979) showed up to 55% of prevalence (number of samples infected over the total) of Alternaria spp.… Show more

“…The TLC and HPLC analysis of APB further indicated the presence of iturin A (IV) and surfactin (V) like compounds as compared Antifungal potential of Bacillus vallismortis R2 against different phytopathogenic fungi infectoria as major species associated with this disease among the other Alternaria spp. (Perello et al, 2008). In light of this, the potential of APB to control spread of black point disease in wheat grains was explored.…”

“…Söz konusu testlerde Alternaria spp. ye ait izolatlarda lx10 5 konidi/ml (Tohyama and Tsuda 1995, Perello et al 2008, Noelting et al 2012, Arthrinium sp. ye ait izolatlar için 1x10 6 konidi/ml (Grey and Sands 1992) yoğunlukları kullanılmıştır.…”

“…Grain amaranth species have been important in different parts of the world and at different times for several thousand years (Meyers & Putnam, 1988 (Fig. 3) (Noelting et al, 2009a(Noelting et al, , 2009b (Perelló et al, 2007). This disease could significantly reduce the production and the quality of amaranth due to seed transmission and its possible effects on other plant parts.…”
