Indonesia merupakan negara yang menyumbang sampah plastik terbanyak kedua di dunia. Beberapa produsen mulai memberikan solusi terhadap banyaknya sampah plastik tersebut akan tetapi solusi tersebut dinilai masih memberikan dampak negatif yang lebih buruk sehingga disebut dengan False Solution Plastic Management. Salah satu dampak dari False Solution yaitu pencemaran udara berupa mikroplastik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi adanya mikroplastik di udara dan jumlah polutan PM 2.5 di sekitar hasil pengolahan sampah plastik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Purposive Random Sampling. Pengambilan sampel berada di dua tempat yang berbeda yaitu pada pabrik daur ulang dan timbulan sampah. Hasil menunjukkan terdapat mikroplastik pada dua tempat tersebut. Jumlah mikroplastik yang teridentifikasi sebanyak 1258. Jumlah tersebut didominasi oleh jenis mikroplastik fiber. Penelitian ini juga mengukur jumlah polutan PM 2.5 yang berada di sekitar tempat pengambilan sampel. Nilai PM 2.5 pada pabrik daur ulang sebesar 25 µg/m3 dan pada timbulan sampah 1876 µg/m3.

Introduction: Laryngeal carcinoma is a malignant squamous metaplasia of the overlying epithelial surface of larynx. Several factors are believed to affect the survival of laryngeal carcinoma. This study aims to identify the survival of patients with laryngeal carcinoma. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study using Cox Regression analysis for the survival analysis design. Patients were included if they were diagnosed with laryngeal cancer, had radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery or combination therapy and had a complete medical record. Data were collected retrospectively from medical records, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, genetic, tumor location, stadium, and therapy. Result: The results shows that from the 149 patients with laryngeal carcinoma who came to Head and Neck Surgery oncology outpatient clinic and had received therapy in the period January 2009 to December 2014, it was founded that smoking, alcohol, genetic, staging, surgery, and chemotherapy had a significant relationship to the laryngeal carcinoma survival (p value <0.05). While the location of the tumor and radiation did not show a significant relationship (p value> 0.05). Based on multivariable analysis of Cox Regression obtained smoking, alcohol, and surgery which provides a significant influence on survival. Patients who smoke have a risk of death 23.9 times. Suffering from consuming alcohol has a risk 2.41 times of death. Patients who do surgery can reduce the risk of death about 54%. Conclusion: The 5-year survival of patients with laryngeal carcinoma is 56.4%. Keywords: Patient Factors, Prognostic Factors, Tumor Factors, Laryngeal Carcinoma, Survival

Hypoxia-Related Long Non-Coding RNA Signature Predicts the Prognosis of Breast Cancer

Background: Breast cancer(BC) is the most common tumour in women. Hypoxia stimulates metastasis in cancer and is linked to poor patient prognosis.Methods: We screened prognostic-related lncRNAs(Long Non-Coding RNAs) from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data and constructed a prognostic signature based on hypoxia-related lncRNAs in BC.Results: We identified 21 differentially expressed lncRNAs associated with BC prognosis. Kaplan Meier survival analysis indicated a significantly worse prognosis for the high-risk group(P<0.001). Moreover, the ROC-curve (AUC) of the lncRNAs signature was 0.700, a performance superior to other traditional clinicopathological characteristics. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) showed many immune and cancer-related pathways and in the low-risk group patients. Moreover, TCGA revealed that functions including activated protein C (APC)co-inhibition, Cinnamoyl CoA reductase(CCR),check-point pathways, cytolytic activity, human leukocyte antigen (HLA), inflammation-promotion, major histocompatibility complex(MHC) class1, para-inflammation, T cell co-inhibition, T cell co-stimulation, and Type Ⅰ and Ⅱ Interferons (IFN) responses were significantly different in the low-risk and high-risk groups. Immune checkpoint molecules such as ICOS, IDO1, TIGIT, CD200R1, CD28, PDCD1(PD-1), were also expressed differently between the two risk groups. The expression of m6A-related mRNA indicated that YTHDC1, RBM15, METTL3, and FTO were significantly between the high and low-risk groups.Additionally, immunotherapy in patients with BC from the low-risk group yielded a higher frequency of clinical responses to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy or a combination of anti-PD-1/PD-L1and anti-CTLA4 therapies.Except for lapatinib, the results also show that a high-risk score is related to a higher half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of chemotherapy drugs.Conclusion: A novel hypoxia-related lncRNAs signature may serve as a prognostic model for BC.
