Hyperuricaemia- An Independent Predictor of Acute Stroke and Its Optimal Level to Prevent Stroke

Abstract: BACKGROUNDStroke ranks as a third most common cause of mortality in the world after ischaemic heart disease and malignancy in the elderly. The prevalence of hyperuricaemia in stroke is 35.2% in men and 8.7% in women in developing countries, and it is significantly higher in patients with acute stroke than the normal population.
