“…Figure shows the incidence of hypertension in the later decades of life as reported by several authors. Other authors have reported incidences by age similar to those shown (80, 81, 89, 90). The results vary considerably depending upon the lower limits of hypertension used, the sex studied, and the group selected.…”

“…These facts stugested that this initial vasodilatation was due to some mechanism other than the local action of Angiotonin. That it probably was the result of sympathetic vasomotor activity was demonstrated in a subject with a unilateral (right) cervical sympathectomy performed 9 Figure 10. The letters correspond to the times indicated at the top of Figure 9.…”

“…Moderate hypertension in patients with Wilms's tumours is well documented (Bradley and Drake, 1949). Hypertension was reported by Braasch et al (1940) in 27-7% of 317 cases of hypernephroma, by Graham (1947) in 10% of 195 cases, and by Griffiths and Thackray (1949) in 7 out of their 80 patients with hypernephromas. Recently a haemangiopericytoma of the kidney which contained a high concentration of renin and was associated with severe hypertension was reported (Robertson et al, 1967).…”

“…The blood pressure has remained normal for two years. Braasch et al (1940) reported the cases of 21 patients with hypertension and hypernephroma in whom after nephrectomy the blood pressure remained normal in nine, temporarily became normal in three, and was unaffected in nine. Griffiths and Thackray (1949) noted that their seven patients did not survive long enough after nephrectomy to determine the effect of removal of the tumour and concluded that hypertension is indicative of poor prognosis.…”
