Essential hypertension is one of the most severe women's health problems. Modern life brings more chances of pulmonary diseases to human. The purpose of the study is to investigate weather pneumonia and lung cancer are associated with the mortality of women with hypertension in different age. A crosssectional retrospective study was conducted in women with hypertension, who were admitted into our hospital in 2004-2013. 14219 women were enrolled and 68.8 ± 12.2 year old (y). Isolated hypertension was 14.7%. The age of death was 78.1 ± 9.8 y. The mortality was 4.4% for average and 0.2%, 1.1%, 2.4%, 4.8%, 10.4% and 15.8% in group age ≦49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89 and ≧90 y separately. This mortality increased with age was positively significantly correlated with the increased incidences of pneumonia (P < 0.05, r = 0.77). Pneumonia was a significant risk associated with the mortality in age 55-89 y (OR = 6.4-22.5; 95% CI = 3.06-51.12). While, lung cancer was the significant risk in 70-79 y. These observations indicate that pneumonia and lung cancer are significant risk factors associated with the mortality of certain age women with hypertension, and bring an alert that pneumonia and lung cancer should be prevented and treated intensively in modern life in order to reduce the mortality.Hypertension is one of the most severe health problems for women. The prevalence of it in women is almost the same as man, women vs. men = 26.1-29.5 % vs. 26.6-29.0% 1 . The mortality of it from 2000 through 2013 significantly increased 36.8% for aged 45-64, from 2000 to 2005 increased 23% for those >85 and 10.9% for those 75-84 2 . Women face big challenges to reduce the mortality of hypertension.The most significant distinction between women and men with hypertension is protective effect of estrogen before menopause and reduced protective effect of estrogen after menopause 3 ; therefore, women have unique manifestation of cardiovascular risks and target organ damage with hypertension, they tend to more have relevant age-related risks of mortality. Studying such risks from different age is probably powerful than studying global risks in whole age.Pneumonia is a common disease occurring in all parts of the world 4 . It is among the most common infectious diseases and the most common lower respiratory tract infection 5 . It is a major cause of death among all age groups resulting in 7% of the world's total death yearly 4,6 . Lung cancer is also common worldwide, it is the third highest incidence, and second after breast cancer in mortality among cancer of women 7 . Both pneumonia and lung cancer are diseases of respiratory system, and diseases related to longevity or civilization, that appear to the increase in frequency in modern life as countries become more industrialized and people live longer.Relationship between pneumonia or lung cancer and essential hypertension is not well studied. Mortality of primary hypertension is high worldwide. Whether untraditional factors exist in modern life and affect the mortality is not well studied. The aim of the study was to evaluate the risk factors for fatality rate of hypertensive men in downtown area. A cross-sectional study was performed on hypertensive men, who were hospitalized into our hospital and lived in eligible urban areas. the characteristics of the patients and factors for the fatality were analyzed and of the risks or the contributors on the status were investigated. 14354 patients were identified. Mean age was 68.9 ± 12.4 year old (y) and dead ones was 75.9 ± 9.5 y. The overall hospitalized fatality was 5.9%, which was increased with age: fatality with 0.7%, 2.2%, 2.9%, 7.1%, 11.1% and 16.6% was for age group ≦ 49 y, 50-59 y, 60-69 y, 70-79 y, 80-89 y and ≧ 90 y respectively. The increased fatality was significantly positively correlated with the incidence of pneumonia, P < 0.05, r = 0.99. Pneumonia was prone to involve in men with older age and severer organ damage by hypertension. Similar to traditional risks such as coronary heart disease and stroke, pneumonia and lung cancer were also significantly associated with the fatality. Odds ratio (95% CI) for pneumonia and lung cancer were 6.18 (4.35-8.78) and 1.55 (1.14-2.11). The study provides evidence that pneumonia and lung cancer are highly associated with fatality of hypertensive men in downtown area, indicating that in order to reduce the fatality of hypertension, these lung diseases should be prevented and treated intensively in modern life. Primary hypertension is one of the most common diseases worldwide; the prevalence reaches 60-80% in elderly 1 and 26% in adult population 2,3. It is also the most important risk for mortality, responsible for globally 13% of deaths 4. Thus the both morbidity and mortality of hypertension are high incredibly in worldwide. Traditional risk factors, such as coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke, are implicated in the occurrence of death in patients with hypertension. However, the extent to which those risk factors correlated with mortality in such patients remain insufficiently assessed, highlighting a need for efforts toward finding untraditional risks in order to improve outcomes in this population. Introdução: As doenças crônicas não transmissíveis são as principais causas de morte no mundo. Entre essas, As Doenças Cardiovasculares são catalogadas como a principal causa. Objetivo: Avaliar a mortalidade das doenças cardiovasculares no Brasil, a partir da série temporal de 2015 a 2019. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo ecológico transversal de série temporal e descritivo sobre a mortalidade por Doenças Cardiovasculares no Brasil. Foram utilizados dados secundários, obtidos em abril de 2021, no Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (DATASUS), cuja série temporal compreendeu o período entre 2015 e 2019. Resultados e Discussão: As taxas de mortalidade por DCV, no Brasil, demonstram uma tendência de acréscimo no período de 2016, 2017, 2018 e 2019, resultado muito similar aos dados encontrados em outros estudos realizados no Brasil. Os maiores índices se encontram nas regiões Sudeste e Sul, seguidos da região Nordeste. Tratando-se dos óbitos, segundo a raça no período de 2015 a 2019, se observa que a maior proporção de óbitos ocorreu na raça branca por Aterosclerose (62,14%), seguidos da raça parda (28,38%) e da raça negra (5,87%). Se destacam no estudo os dados sobre a Febre Reumática Aguda e as Doenças Reumáticas Crônicas do Coração, cujo percentual atinge os maiores índices no ano de 2017, chegando a 63,54% na população feminina. Quando se analisa a Proporção de Óbitos, segundo Faixa Etária no período se observa um maior acometimento geral da população idosa. Conclusões: As Doenças Cardiovasculares têm se mostrado cada vez mais prevalentes, acarretando aumento do número de morbimortalidade no país. Os resultados apontam para a necessidade de aprofundamento da questão, tendo em vista que, embora as condições sejam muito semelhantes entre os municípios, as diferenças nos indicadores são expressivas.
