Hyperbranched Polyglycerol Functionalized Silica Stationary Phase for Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography

Abstract: Surface-initiated anionic-ring-opening multibranching polymerization was employed to prepare a hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG) functionalized silica stationary phase for hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC). The obtained stationary phase was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The chromatographic properties of the prepared stationary phase were systematically investigated. The abundance and multitude distribution of hydroxyl g… Show more

“…Many of the developed stationary phases for HILIC are based on a polymeric structure, such as a hyperbranched polyethylenimine stationary phase [101] and a poly(vinyl alcohol)‐cationic cellulose copolymer [102]. Other used polymer functionalized silica stationary phases for HILIC separations are based on polyglycerol [103,104], polyacrylamide [105], poly(vinyl alcohol) [106], and poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐divinylbenzene) [99].…”

“…Wang's group developed two stationary phases: hyperbranched polyglycerol functionalized silica and a porous organic cage (reduced imine cage) embedded C18 amide stationary phases. 15,16 The interaction between analytes and the stationary phase is a basis of chromatography. Kanao et al studied the isotope effect on hydrogen bonding and CH/CD-π interaction by LC.…”
