Hydrothermal synthesis method of nickel phosphide nanoparticles

Abstract: Nanometer nickel phosphide compounds (Ni 2 P and Ni 12 P 5 ) were synthesized via a mild hydrothermal method with red phosphor and nickel chloride as raw materials. XRD, EDS, TEM and SEM analysis were employed to characterize the obtained products. The results showed that the as-prepared products were well crystallized and particle sizes ranged from 10 to 40 nm. Effects of raw material ratios and initial pH of reaction system on the final products were investigated. The result showed that increased P/Ni ratio … Show more

“…The ratio of P/Ni in the precursor and the solvent also play an important role in regulating the phase of Ni phosphides in hydrothermal reactions. As reported by Wang et al , increasing the amount of red P would benefit the formation of the hexagonal Ni 2 P, while the tetragonal Ni 12 P 5 was favored with a low P/Ni ratio . Mi et al .…”

“…As reported by Wang et al, increasing the amount of red P would benefit the formation of the hexagonal Ni 2 P, while the tetragonal Ni 12 P 5 was favored with a low P/Ni ratio. 840 Mi et al investigated the solvent-dependent phase modulation of Ni phosphides during the solvothermal reaction using white P as the P source. 841 It was found that tetragonal Ni 12 P 5 was obtained using ethanol as the solvent, while hexagonal Ni 2 P was prepared in a mixed solvent of ethanol and water.…”

“…Thus, rP is first reacted with water to form hypophosphorous acid that reduces the nickel ions in the nitrate to nickel atoms. The nickel atoms then react with the unreacted rP, forming the Ni 2 P [ 29 ]. …”

“…In their work, highly toxic yellow phosphorus P 4 or dangerous metallic sodium were employed for the synthesis process. In recent studies, our group has successfully synthesized Ni-P [19][20][21], Co-Ni-P [22], and Co 2 P [23] compounds by using hydrothermal method. In this article, pure Sn 4 P 3 was synthesized from eco-friendly red phosphorus and tin chloride SnCl 2 •2H 2 O at a low temperature (200 o C) for only 10 hours.…”
