Hydrosilylation Reactions Catalyzed by Rhenium

Abstract: Hydrosilylation is an important process, not only in the silicon industry to produce silicon polymers, but also in fine chemistry. In this review, the development of rhenium-based catalysts for the hydrosilylation of unsaturated bonds in carbonyl-, cyano-, nitro-, carboxylic acid derivatives and alkenes is summarized. Mechanisms of rhenium-catalyzed hydrosilylation are discussed.

“…1,5,[7][8][9][10] Other noble transition metals, such as Rh, Ru, Re, Pd and Ir, have also been used in the transformation. 3,4,[11][12][13][14] Although excellent activity and selectivity have been obtained in the reactions, the price and metal residues are the serious disadvantage, and the catalysts are hard to recycle. 15 Many studies focused on developing novel catalysts with low cost, earth abundance, environmentally benign properties and good compatibility towards a wide range of functional groups, for example, Fe, Co, Ni and Mn.…”

“…Prior to his postdoctoral studies at Kyoto University (2019-2021) under the guidance of Prof. Keiji Maruoka, he worked as a research scientist decade. 19,20,[38][39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46] Consistently, all of them have been dedicated to TM complexes catalyzing the hydrosilylation of alkenes and alkynes. The absence of comprehensive reviews on the main group element-catalyzed hydrosilylation of unsaturated hydrocarbons has triggered us to study recent achievements in this area.…”

“…The addition of (NBu 4 )Br resulted in the precipitation of brown (Se compounds) or purple (Te complexes) microcrystals (see Scheme 2). Single crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction were obtained by recrystallization from CH 2 Cl 2 / MeOH (1-3) or dimethylacetamide (4).…”

“…[2,3] Some of them are capable of reductive N 2 splitting to nitrido complexes and subsequent formation of ammonia. 4 Among the ligands used for such applications, aromatic organochalcogenolates (ArE À with E=O, S, Se or Te) represent an interesting and versatile class. [6][7][8][9] The coordination chemistry of rhenium complexes containing organothiolato ligands is well known with thoroughly performed structural studies and well explored synthetic pathways.…”
