Hydrogen Peroxide Biosensors Based on Horseradish Peroxidase and Hemoglobin

Abstract: This review focuses recent contributions in the development of the electrochemical biosensors for hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), based on the Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) and Hemoglobin (Hb) modified electrodes. Various modified electrodes have been used for the determination of H 2 O 2 by using electrochemical methods. HRP and Hb are the mostly used materials for the modification of electrodes. Here, we summarize the recent trends of the modification of electrodes, as well as development of the electrochemical… Show more

“…Therefore, the second enzyme of HRP and the mediator of catechol were used to further react with hydrogen peroxide. 43 These mediators have the common characteristics of small molecular weight, lower redox potential and reversibility. With this approach, a significant redox peak around À0.2 to À0.3 V was obtained such that these two enzymatic reaction products could be simultaneously detected using potential state.…”

“…All of this is performed without the need for any additional preanalytical steps. To achieve sufficient shuttling of electrons between the substrate and redox center of the enzyme [33], an electron mediator could be used. We selected thionine for this purpose.…”
