As noted elsewhere (Stanfield, 1937), the determination of the pH of tissues in flowers of Lychnis showed a correlation between the pH and oxidase activity in these organs. In a series of determinations of oxidase activity on Spinacia Loehwing (1933) found the pistillate plants higher in the early stages of blooming, but the condition was definitely reversed in the two older stages tested.…”
