Hydrogen Generation from Aluminum Corrosion in Aqueous Solutions

Abstract: The H 2 can be generated from the aluminum water reaction. Hydrogen generation rate by using aluminum from soft drink was measured by immersing samples in H 2 SO 4 ,N a 2 SO 4 , KOH, and NaOH solutions. No observable amount of hydrogen is generated in acidic or in neutral solutions. At a given concentration, the generation rate of H 2 is higher in NaOH solution than in KOH solution.
