“…The confluence of the Ebro River and the Segre River has been widely investigated as part of several field studies (e.g., see Arbat‐Bofill et al, ; Ramón et al, ). The two rivers merge at an angle close to 110°, with the Segre River being characterized by a relatively high channel curvature in the region where it connects to the main channel (Figure ).…”

“…Confluences are complex hydrodynamic environments that play a critical role in controlling the transport of sediments through river systems (Arbat‐Bofill et al, ; Guillén‐Ludeña et al, ; Leite Ribeiro et al, ; Miller, ; Paola, ; Riley et al, ; Roy & Bergeron, ; Yalin & da Silva, ). The main features of the flow hydrodynamics downstream of the confluence apex are mainly controlled by the planform geometry, momentum or velocity ratio (VR) of the two incoming streams, and bed morphology (Best, ; Best & Rhoads, ; Guillén‐Ludeña et al, ; Leite Ribeiro et al, ; Mosley, ; Rhoads & Kenworthy, ; Roy & Roy, ; Roy et al, ).…”
