“…This is done to keep the designed water reservoir from being damaged or broken because of too much water. The results of research using the Pelton Turbine that can produce electricity by 10% -25% have also been carried out by Zeng et al, [22]. However, their research was carried out with simulations using different prototype four-nozzle Pelton turbines.…”

“…Dimensions can be optimized, and the thickness reduced by including in the casing inserts and shrouds, with the aim of making the casing lighter and to reduce the splashes and water jet interferences. The key studies that recommend how to design the internal shrouds and ribs are here discussed, but CFD simulations are recommended to further predict the hydraulic behavior of the casing, in order to overcome limitations of experimental measurements [ 71 ], especially for multi-nozzle turbines [ 72 ]. The additional complexity is that the casing is a component which may not be symmetric in general, and this requires the simulation of the full domain when the flow behavior inside the casing is of interest.…”

“…Although the inflow angle at the entrance of impeller has improved, these two methods undoubtedly increase the manufacturing cost of PAT. Zeng et al [16,17] proposed the concept of "Impulse Pump-as-Turbine (Impulse PAT)", where the centrifugal pump impeller is used as a hydro turbine by pairing with the spear valve injector from an impulse hydro turbine. The spear valve injector regulates water inlet flow rate and, thus, regulates power output of the new concept turbine.…”
