“…Chevalier et al reported 2% of subcutaneous hydatid cyst cases in his study with presence of cyst in other organs also. Reports of primary subcutaneous hydatid cysts are very rare 6 .Dirican et al failed to find a single case of palmar subcutaneous hydatid cyst in reviewof literature but reported two subcutaneous hydatid cysts which were treated surgically and the cysts were primary as the patients did not have any history of surgical intervention and were devoid of any other affected organ 7 .…”

“…The indirect hemagglutination test is positive in more than 80% of hepatic cases. A positive hemagglutination test is significant but negative result does not indicate absence of disease 2,6 . Presence of daughter cysts and absence of capsular calcification, detachment of membranes, and irregular edges suggest a viable cyst.…”

“…Radiological imaging including USG, CT and MRI are excellent imaging modalities for hydatid cysts, which can delineate exact site as well as identify the daughter cysts and hydatid sand which are specific to echinococcal infestation. MRI can also show a typical distinctive feature of cyst within cyst in case of the multicystic hydatid cyst (Chevalier et al, 1994).…”

“…Indirect haemaggulitation test (IHA) and Latex agglutination test are highly sensitive and Immunoelectrophoresis, Double diffusion test (DD test), Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Radioallergosorbent test (RAST) are highly specifi c [1]. Ultrasound and CT-scan are useful for delineating the location of the cyst but the fi ndings are nonspecifi c. Hypo intense peripheral rim with multicystic mass (cyst inside cyst) is a distinctive feature of hydatid cyst on MRI [3]. We did not perform any serological test or any imaging of subcutaneous tissue in our case as patient was biopsy proven case of hydatid cyst.…”

“…If worm is not trapped in either the liver or lungs, or if it travels in lymphatics and bypasses the liver, it may lodge virtually anywhere in the body, most commonly in the peritoneum(10-16%), spleen (2-3%), kidneys (1-4%), uterus & adenexae (0.5-1.5%), pancreas (0.3-0.8%), others (0.1-3%) [1]. In different series, the frequency of the subcutaneous tissue involvement was approximately 1-2% [2][3][4].…”
