Hybrid renewable energy-based distribution system for seasonal load variations

Abstract: Summary In recent scenario, there is abundant availability of renewable energy resources to satisfy the significant increase in residential, industrial, and commercial demand. This paper presents a novel framework to determine the preeminent size of renewable distributed generators (RDGs) by optimizing the system components such as area required for solar‐photovoltaic modules, swept area occupied by wind turbine blades, and area used by fuel cell. A microgrid with hybrid RDG (h‐RDG) is integrated in distributi… Show more

“…Nonetheless, using a single renewable energy resource system for power generation, such as photovoltaic (PV) only or wind only system is not very useful because renewable energy resource supply, such as wind or sunlight, is not uninterrupted. A hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) could address these shortcomings of single source system . HRES consists of various combinations of PV, wind turbines, fuel cell (FC), and microturbine generator to produce power for local load and connect to the grid to abate reliance on fossil fuel .…”

“…RERs are being used more efficiently on distribution side, generally termed as DG power system. According to IEEE and IEA, DG power system can be defined as generation of electricity by the electricity generation sources (mainly by RERs) which are sufficiently small (ranging from fraction of kW to tens of MW) as compared to central power system (beyond 1000 MW) and is located close to the load . The schematic diagram of DG power system is shown in Figure depicting the illustrative scenario.…”

“…19 The SPV system has captivated much more researchers, investors through worldwide in distributed generation. 22 Conversion of chemical energy into useful electrical energy through the process of thermochemical is termed as fuel cell technology (FCT) is also very well-suited for DGs. For voltage level improvement, degrading distribution losses etc is the main aim to the integrated h-NDG.…”
