Hybrid CuxO–TiO2 porous hollow nanospheres: preparation, characterization and photocatalytic properties

Abstract: A series of CuxO–TiO2 hollow nanospherical composites with different mass percents of copper element were prepared, and the composites displayed high photocatalytic activities towards acetaldehyde degradation to CO2 under visible-light irradiations.

“…9 After stirring to react for 4 h, the Rub@ TiO 2 @SiO 2 NPs were centrifuged and rinsed with deionized water three times. To etch the inner SiO 2 NPs, the resultant Rub@TiO 2 @ SiO 2 NPs were dispersed in 5 mL of 1.2 M NaOH aqueous solution to stir at 60 °C for 4 h. 20 As a result, the product was isolated by centrifugation and washed with deionized water and then dispersed in 5 mL of deionized water for further use.…”

“…A reaction mixture containing l -lysine (0.097 g), TEOS (7.4 mL), and deionized water (100 mL) was stirred at 60 °C for 20 h. The solvent in the mixture was evaporated at 80 °C. The flakes obtained after solvent evaporation were heat treated at 600 °C for 6 h in air to remove organic moieties to obtain SiO 2 with diameter of 30 nm. …”
