Abstract:PurposeThis paper aims to identify the current research trends and set the future research agenda in the area of human resource (HR) analytics by an extensive review of the existing literature. The paper aims to capture state of the art and develop an exhaustive understanding of the theoretical foundations, concepts and recent developments in the area.Design/methodology/approachA portfolio of 125 articles collected from the Scopus database was systematically analyzed using a two-tier method. First, the evoluti… Show more

“…During the last decade, the concept of HRA was increasingly discussed in HR practice (see, e.g. Madsen and Sl atten, 2019), and, with a certain delay, is also considered in HR research (see the reviews by Chalutz Ben-Gal, 2019;Garcia-Arroyo and Osca, 2021;Giermindl et al, 2021;Margherita, 2022;Marler and Boudreau, 2017;Qamar and Samad, 2022;Tursunbayeva et al, 2018; for a discussion of HRA terminology Fernandez and Gallardo-Gallardo, 2020). As technological enablers of HRA, two interacting developments are Relevance of data and analyses in HRA 285 mentioned, namely the increased availability of data and the increased performance of analyses.…”

PurposeEnabled by increased (“big”) data stocks and advanced (“machine learning”) analyses, the concept of human resource analytics (HRA) is expected to systematically improve decisions in human resource management (HRM). Since so far empirical evidence on this is, however, lacking, the authors' study examines which combinations of data and analyses are employed and which combinations deliver on the promise of improved decision quality.Design/methodology/approachTheoretically, the paper employs a neo-configurational approach for founding and conceptualizing HRA. Methodically, based on a sample of German organizations, two varieties (crisp set and multi-value) of qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) are employed to identify combinations of data and analyses sufficient and necessary for HRA success.FindingsThe authors' study identifies existing configurations of data and analyses in HRM and uncovers which of these configurations cause improved decision quality. By evidencing that and which combinations of data and analyses conjuncturally cause decision quality, the authors' study provides a first confirmation of HRA success.Research limitations/implicationsMajor limitations refer to the cross-sectional and national sample and the usage of subjective measures. Major implications are the suitability of neo-configurational approaches for future research on HRA, while deeper conceptualizing and researching both the characteristics and outcomes of HRA constitutes a core future task.Originality/valueThe authors' paper employs an innovative theoretical-methodical approach to explain and analyze conditions that conjuncturally cause decision quality therewith offering much needed empirical evidence on HRA success.

“…The classics of economics have traditionally focused their research on determining the role of an individual in the system of economic relations and the use of his/her abilities in the process of labor. The theory of human resource management is reflected in many works of modern authors, such as Y. Qamar Y. U. and T. A. Samad [8], H. Wang et al [9], R. J. Ward [10], C. S. Long and S. S. Xuan [11], B. E. Becker and Huselid M. A.…”
Strengthening competition in world markets leads to qualitative changes in the system of organization and management of businesses which must adapt to constantly changing conditions in the intensified competition at the international level. It is necessary to improve SMEs regulation system, including facilitating the establishment of inter-firm contacts and raising the qualifications of specialists and administrative staff. In this article, the authors research a formation process of new qualitative characteristics of enterprise human resources under globalization changes. The concentration of production is being replaced by the concept of intellectual-intensive production with a high level of education and information-technological equipment of the personnel. These peculiarities of the globalization process must be taken into account when solving issues related to the development of small businesses in Ukraine. It is revealed that this concept focuses attention not only on quantitative, but also on qualitative characteristics of personnel, including the level of competencies, professionalism, and a lack of focus on the development of intellectual potential. Competency as a socio-economic category becomes a system-forming basis that determines the formation of new processes for the preparation of human resources. The research reviewed the current state of SMEs in Ukraine under negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of statistical analysis indicate a steady downward trend in the number of individual entrepreneurs. Changes in the manufacturing sector have also brought about changes in relation to labor resources. Ideas of self-development, lifelong education, emphasizing informal and non-formal learning are becoming popular. All of the above indicates that the provision of organizations with competent personnel is becoming an increasingly urgent problem and one of the main priorities. A specific model of a competency-based approach to the human resource formation system was proposed. It determines the behaviour of people in the performance of professional duties in a simple language for specialists and increases the return on the use of competencies. A high level of professional competencies of personnel is one of the important conditions for the effective work of business entities.
Strategy for a firm is a long‐term plan that persists. The enduring viability of these strategies depends on the ecological and environmental aspects of the firm, termed as sustainability. To address this concept, sustainable strategic management (SSM) has been introduced in the management domain. Over the last 30 years of the introduction of SSM, very few studies have systematically reviewed the researches in this purview. Therefore, this study examines the extant structure and future scope of the research on SSM through an inclusive bibliometric analysis of 221 articles. The database of Scopus and Web of Science is used in this study to sample these documents. The crucial contributors of the comprehensive literature are identified through the analysis of bibliographic coupling, citation analysis, co‐authorship analysis, co‐word analysis, co‐citation analysis and country publications, affiliations and collaboration map. The co‐citation analysis classifies the key thematic research interests into cluster of four, based on the co‐cited documents. However, the co‐word analysis identifies the co‐occurrence of keywords in the sampled documents. The country publications, affiliations and collaboration map indexes UK and USA as the top most country on number of articles and collaboration pattern and Europe and Asia as the prime continent on dominating the studies on SSM. The study provides insights on the current studies on SSM, which can be useful for researchers.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
