“…The mosquito-borne Dirofilaria repens normally parasitizes subcutaneous tissues of carnivores and is often asymptomatic in dogs, but can also infect humans, resulting in skin nodules, ocular dirofilariasis or other complications (Capelli et al 2018;Ciuca et al 2020;Pupić-Bakrač et al 2021).
