Hubungan Volume Ambing dan Ukuran Puting dengan Produksi Susu Sapi Perah Friesian Holstein di PT. Naksatra Kejora, Kabupaten Temanggung

Abstract: The objective of this research was to determine the correlation of udder volume and nipple size with milk production of Holstein Friesian dairy cows at PT. Naksatra Kejora, Temanggung Regency, Central of Java. The research was conducted on October 1 to November 30, 2018 that used 35 lactation Holstein Friesian cattle with lactation period 1-5 and lactation months 1-10. The research method was carried out by observational method. The parameters measured were udder volume, nipple volume, nipple circumference, ni… Show more

“…Meanwhile, dairy cows with a second to fourth lactation period experienced an increase in colostrum production because they had given birth and produced milk repeatedly so that the secretory cells in the udder glands had experienced increased growth and development. Damayanti [5] added that dairy cows with large udder volumes will increase their milk production… The results of this research showed that colostrum production was significantly affected by the lactation period (P < 0.05). The same results also were obtained by [6].…”

“…Holstein Friesian (HF) is a breed of dairy cows that is mostly kept by farmers in Indonesia, which has a tropical climate with an average milk production of 10-12 L/head/day [1]. In general, good milk production will affect the dairy cattle business because the higher the milk production, the more developed the dairy business will be [2,3]. In adult dairy cows, udder volume has a strong relationship with milk production and teat size has a weak relationship with milk production [4,5].…”

“…Factors that affect the production of milk produced in dairy cows are the number of secretory cells in the udder tissue. The larger the udder volume (UV), the more secretory cells and milk production will tend to increase [3,7]. The teat is the part of the udder that functions to expel milk during the milking process.…”
