The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics of body size and shape in kampung chickens, as well as the relationship between body size and meat weight. To achieve this, 200 kampung chicken DOC were directly observed using purposive sampling. Purposive sampling where the chickens were divided into 3 groups of body weight, namely high, medium and low.Body size was recorded at 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks of age, and the weight of flesh and bone at 12 weeks of age was analyzed using the ttest.The samples used to obtain the weight of meat and bones (breast and thighs) were 35 males and 23 females.The study used principal component analysis to identify body size and shape characteristics for males and females. Regression and correlation analysis were then conducted to determine the relationship and closeness between body size and the weight of flesh and bone.The results of the study showed that the body size and weight of flesh and bone in kampung male chickens aged 12 weeks were significantly higher

This study aims to determine body weight, body weight gain, and body measurements of male and female Kerinci ducks, as well as to determine the diversity of MSTN genes and the association of the MSTN gene on body weight, body weight gain, and body sizes in Kerinci ducks. The materials used were 96 Kerinci ducks and 96 Kerinci duck blood samples. Data analysis included: T-test, T2-hotelling, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), genotype frequency, allele, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, Heterozygosity, and PIC. The results showed that body weights at 2 and 3 months of age, body weight gain of 2-3 months and body sizes of 3 months old male Kerinci ducks were significantly different (P <0.05) higher than female Kerinci ducks. Body size markers of male and female Kerinci ducks were the length of the sternum, the length of the shank, and the circumference of the shank, while the shape identifier was the length of the wings. The MSTN|MboI gene in Kerinci ducks was polymorphic. The population of Kerinci ducks was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P<0.05). Kerinci duck population heterozygosity showed H0<He. The MSTN|MboI gene was associated with BB, PBB, and body measurements of male and female Kerinci ducks, and the best genotype was (-/-).

Local Indonesian chicken from Bangka Belitung is known as Merawang. This chicken has dual purposes as a meat and egg producer. The objective of this study was to determine the repeatability and most probable producing ability (MPPA) of Merawang chicken’s egg weight and one-day-old chick (DOC) weight. 72 pullet Merawang chickens were raised in single bird cages and their egg weight was checked at 36-38 and 56-58 weeks. The DOC was weighed after the eggs were hatched. The rptR package and the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) method were utilized to estimate the repeatability. At 36-38 and 56-58 weeks, the average egg weight was 46.435.44 and 52.146.15, respectively. Meanwhile, the average DOC weight at 36-38 and 56-58 weeks were 31.92±4.54 and 35.40±4.36, respectively. The result showed that at 36-38 and 56-58 weeks, the repeatability of egg weight was 0.77±0.05 and 0.69±0.05, whereas the DOC weight was 0.84±0.04 and 0.64±0.07. The average MPPA ranges based on egg and DOC weights were 46.51-52.23 and 31.97-35.52, respectively. The pullets with MPPA above the average were 38.46%-50.72% (egg weight) and 48.94%-56% (DOC weight). The results from this study can be used for selecting the Merawang pullet.
