HPLC and UV-spectrophotometry analysis of flavonoids in spray-dried and freez-dried extracts of Teucrium polium L. (Lamiaceae)

Abstract: Тhe aim of the study was identification and determination of the content of flavonoids in dry extracts of Teucrium polium, collected from Republic of Macedonia. Two different drying procedures were used, freeze and spray draying. In freeze-dried (FDE) and spray-dried (SDE) extracts of aerial parts of T. polium five flavone aglycones (luteolin, apigenin, cirsiliol, cirsimaritin and cirsilineol) were identified by HPLC method, on the base of retention times and UV spectral data of the components of the extracts … Show more

“…The modified method described by Stefkov et al (2012) was used for separation of flavonoids. The gradient elution profile was as follows: 10% B 0-5 min, gradient 10%-60% B during 5-60 min, 60% B held for 5 min, then ramped from 60% to 90% B in 2-3 min, and equilibrated for further 5 min; mobile phases -A: water acidified with ortho-phosphoric acid, pH 3, B: acetonitrile.…”

“…The HPLC instrument used was GX-281 instrument with ODS HYPERSIL 250 mm with 5µ particle size. The analysis was done by reverse phase gradient elution mode based on a published method 18 . Scanning was at 348 nm, which is in the region where flavones exhibit maximum absorption.…”

“…The HPLC method, modified from the methods of Stefkov et al, 27 was used for the separation of phenolic acid and flavonoids in A. vulgaris and A. alba extracts. The HPLC system (Shimadzu, Kyoto, Japan) consisted of degasser DGU-20A3, analytical pumps LC-20AT, 7125 injector and SPD-M20A diode array detector, and CBM-20A system controller.…”
