Classification systems constitute an important contribution to nursing practice, as they provide standardized frameworks for communication between nurses and other healthcare professionals. International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) provides a unified and standardized language, as well as a working structure, for the description of health and health-related states. This paper aims to describe some of the available classifications used in nursing practice and to identify the potential value provided by the application of the World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health by all healthcare professionals. With this purpose, a concept analysis was conducted. The relevant nursing classifications were analyzed and related evidence on the use of ICF classification was reviewed to provide a discussion on the application of ICF in nursing practice. The use of ICF could be beneficial in different areas of nursing practice, as it provides a more comprehensive framework to classify nursing outcomes and interventions, improving areas such as interprofessional communication and optimization of care. Although there is published evidence on the use of ICF core sets, further research is needed on this area.

This paper investigates the symbiotic relationship between education and risk management within Czech healthcare facilities, specifically focusing on nurses' education regarding patients' disabilities. On the sample of 1,200 respondents from Czech healthcare facilities, the survey results suggest that education levels significantly shape risk awareness, tool utilization, and risk integration. While positive trends are evident in the healthcare sector, concerns linger around interpreting assessment results, information sufficiency, and the shortening of nurses’ education. This study's broader implications inform ongoing discussions on nursing education and its impact on patient care quality. It underscores the essential role of comprehensive education in cultivating critical thinking, adept risk management, and patient-centered care. The study sets the stage for continued discourse and policy considerations, reinforcing patient safety, staff competence, and healthcare system resilience.

Introdução: O câncer representa um problema de saúde que gera um grande impacto global. Em alguns casos, principalmente em estágios avançados da doença, não é possível alcançar a cura. Neste momento, são instituídos os cuidados paliativos que tem como objetivo melhora da qualidade de vida e controle dos sintomas, bem como manutenção da funcionalidade quando possível. O atendimento domiciliar composto por uma equipe multiprofissional especializada, em conjunto com a fisioterapia, tem sido primordial para a oferta desses cuidados humanizados. Objetivo: Avaliar a qualidade de vida e a funcionalidade dos pacientes oncológicos, em cuidados paliativos, acompanhados pelo Núcleo Regional de Atenção Domiciliar de Taguatinga, DF. Métodos: A qualidade de vida e a funcionalidade foram avaliadas por meio do questionário EORTC QLQ C30, da Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) e da Palliative Performance Scale (PPS). Foram incluídos no estudo 7 pacientes avaliados no período de maio a outubro de 2021. Resultados: A incidência do diagnóstico de câncer ocorreu em sua maioria no sexo feminino, com faixa etária média de 70 (±8,9) anos, o tipo de câncer com maior frequência foi hematológico. O questionário de qualidade de vida EORTC QLQ C30 apresentou uma média de saúde global de 62 pontos. O escore de domínio relacionado aos controles de sintomas apresentou uma média de 100 pontos. Já os escores relacionados à função física e estado geral de saúde foram de 8,83 e 5,50, respectivamente. Observou-se significância estatística na avaliação da piora da dor e de sintomas como a diarréia quando correlacionado com as escalas de funcionalidade (p<0,05). Conclusão: Os pacientes avaliados apresentaram resultados satisfatórios de qualidade de vida e controle de sintomas. No entanto, foram relatados baixos escores relacionados à funcionalidade e saúde geral devido ao quadro avançado da doença. São necessários mais estudos com número amostral significativo.
