How Can NX Advanced Simulation Support Multi-User Design?

Abstract: This paper highlights both the current capabilities and the future potential of NX Advanced Simulation to support synchronous multiuser analysis of complex parts and assemblies. Scenarios of time-saving analysis methods will be presented using the current capabilities of NX Advanced Simulation. To gain additional efficiencies we present a roadmap that extends the BYU-developed NXConnect multiuser environment to include NX Advanced Simulation allowing truly synchronous modeling, idealizing, meshing, and constra… Show more

“…In particular for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) the students utilized Siemens NX Advanced Simulation which allowed them to use NX Connect for some of the pre-processing and using an assembly simulation they were able to complete many steps concurrently. 18 Figure 4 shows the cyber infrastructure used in this class, Table I shows the software tools used.…”

“…This effort leverages commercial CAD system APIs to build plug-ins which extend existing CAD tool functionality to become multi-user. This allows teams of users to concurrently contribute to the design of a part in real time, enhancing collaboration and enabling a parallel work environment within the CAD system [1,[3][4].…”
