This study investigated residential satisfaction of randomly selected 156 household heads in the OGD Workers' housing estate in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Data were collected through questionnaire survey and analysed using descriptive statistics, factor and categorical regression analyses. Respondents were generally satisfied with their housing conditions with 59 % of them expressing satisfaction, while 41 % were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with their housing environment. They evaluated satisfaction based on four key dimensions of housing unit characteristics, neighbourhood facilities and environment, management and services; and these residential components contributed the most to predicting residential satisfaction. Respondents' educational background, employment sector, sex and age were also found to be predictors of satisfaction. A key implication of the findings is that Core housing can provide satisfactory living environment, and this can be enhanced through the adoption of good housing design and management practices, improved access to basic services and social infrastructure and rapid upgrading of the number of bedrooms in the housing units.

:Konut memnuniyeti araştırmalarında genellikle anket uygulaması ve sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesine odaklanan çalışmaların varlığı dikkat çekmektedir. Ancak ankete dayalı bu çalışmaların mekânsal karşılıklarına yönelik modelleme eksikliği nedeni ile planlamada karar verme süreçlerine yönlendirici bir katkı sağlanamamaktadır. Bu çalışmada bulanık çok kriterli karar verme yöntemleri (Bulanık DEMATEL+Bulanık TOPSIS) kullanılarak, iki farklı TOKİ toplu konut bölgesinde konut memnuniyetinin değerlendirilmesine yönelik bir model oluşturulmuştur. Toplu konut bölgeleri arasındaki memnuniyeti etkileyen faktörler ve mekânsal karşılıklarına yönelik bulanık bir değerlendirme gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar ile her iki toplu konut bölgesi için geoistatistik analiz tabanlı ve Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi (CBS) destekli karşılaştırılabilir konut memnuniyeti haritası oluşturulmuştur. Plan, tipoloji ve tasarım yaklaşımları aynı olan iki TOKİ bölgesinden Yenidoğan TOKİ bölgesinde konutlardan memnuniyet oranının %60 gibi yüksek bir oranda olduğu, buna karşılık İldem TOKİ bölgesinde ise memnuniyetin son derece düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda konut memnuniyet düzeyindeki farklılığın temelde alanın yer seçimi üzerine odaklandığı, kent merkezi ile kurulan ilişkinin, ulaşım bağlantılarının güçlü etkenler olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. In housing satisfaction research, studies that focus on the evaluation of surveying and its results draw much attention. However, a guiding contribution cannot be made to the decision-making processes in planning due to the lack of modelling for the spatial provisions of these survey-based studies. This study was conducted using two multi-criteria decision-making methods (Fuzzy DEMATEL+ Fuzzy TOPSIS), and a model was created for the evaluation of housing satisfaction in two different TOKI housing estates. A fuzzy examination was carried out on the factors that affect satisfaction with the housing estates and their spatial provisions. A comparable housing satisfaction map based on a geostatistical analysis and supported with Geographic Information System was created for both housing estates using the obtained results. The planning, typology and design approaches of both TOKI housing estates are the same, but the level of the satisfaction with the houses in the Yenidoğan TOKI housing estate was found to be as high as 60%, while the level of satisfaction with the Ildem TOKI housing estate was found to be extremely low. The study concluded that this difference derived from site selection, and that relationships with the city centre and transportation corridors were determinant factors.

Most countries face chronic housing problems, which have produced countless social tensions and politico-economic opportunities. The housing question has had different characteristics, related to quantitative and qualitative issues or the urban and environmental surroundings of the housing.Between the on-going problems' mutations and the administration responses through public policies, complications emerge: difficulty to understand the issues and their importance, and lack of resources, resulting in a worsening in residential dissatisfaction, degradation of the affected areas and diminished capacity to attract residents and investment.To illustrate this, a spatialisation of housing dissatisfaction is presented for the municipalities of mainland Portugal, using recent statistical data. The variables used relate to the most common residential problems -overcrowding, degradation and lack of infrastructures -and also accessibility for people in wheelchairs and commuting time.The statistical processing allowed for an identification of six clusters illustrating different types of residential dissatisfaction. They feature an interesting spatial distribution, supporting the view that geographic specificities can explain housing dissatisfaction profiles.The results were correlated with the official instruments for mitigating residential dissatisfaction in order to verify their degree of coherence.While the true origins of the problem may not lie in housing itself, or in the area's economic activity, but mostly in the income available to the affected families (retired/pensioners, minorities, unemployed people, precarious workers and other instances of social deprivation), the implications of the results obtained are evaluated for a social housing policy that is increasingly focusing on families, concrete types of dissatisfaction and territorial specificities.
