Hormonal Control of Flower Bud Dormancy in Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus L.). I. Identification of Abscisic Acid1

Abstract: We demonstrated the presence of inhibitory substances in both the free and base-hydrolyzable fractions of methanol extracts of sour cherry buds. One of these, occurring in both fractions, we identified as abscisic acid (ABA) by combined gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The base hydrolyzable form of ABA was assumed to be the l’-glucose ester.
