Hormonal Control of Flower Bud Dormancy in Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus L.). I. Identification of Abscisic Acid1

Abstract

We demonstrated the presence of inhibitory substances in both the free and base-hydrolyzable fractions of methanol extracts of sour cherry buds. One of these, occurring in both fractions, we identified as abscisic acid (ABA) by combined gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The base hydrolyzable form of ABA was assumed to be the l’-glucose ester.
