Hints of 5d fixed point theories from non-Abelian T-duality

Abstract: In this paper we investigate the properties of the putative 5d fixed point theory that should be dual, through the holographic correspondence, to the new supersymmetric AdS 6 solution constructed in [1]. This solution is the result of a non-Abelian T-duality transformation on the known supersymmetric AdS 6 solution of massive Type IIA. The analysis of the charge quantization conditions seems to put constraints on the global properties of the background, which, combined with the information extracted from consi… Show more

“…(3.3) -which is that whilst ρ is formally a non-compact variable, it is segmented in intervals of length π by the presence of NS5 defects. This interpretation builds on a subtle argument proposed in the papers [28,54] and relies on two crucial points. First that the Page charges defined above are not invariant under large gauge transformations and second, that in the geometries we consider there is a periodic quantity b 0 , defined as,…”

“…Interesting solutions generated this way 6 are the only explicit AdS 6 solution to Type IIB supergravity constructed in [37] 7 and the recent N = 2 AdS 4 solution to M-theory with purely magnetic flux constructed in [42], which provides the only such explicit solution besides the Pernici-Sezgin background derived in the eighties [43]. Both these solutions may play an important role as gravity duals of, respectively, 5d fixed point theories arising from Type IIB brane configurations, probably from 7-branes as in [44] (see [45]), and of 3d SCFTs arising from M5-branes wrapped on 3d manifolds in the context of the 3d-3d correspondence [46]. In turn, the new AdS 3 backgrounds that we construct in this paper may provide the holographic duals of new 2D large N = (0, 4) field theories arising from D-brane intersections.…”

“…Some works have tried to explore in more depth the CFT realization of AdS backgrounds generated through non-Abelian T-duality in different dimensions [25,45]- [28]. Its interplay with supersymmetry [53] and phenomenological properties of the dual CFTs, such as the type of branes generating the geometry, the behavior of universal quantities such as the free energy, or the entanglement entropy, the realization of baryon vertices, instantons, giant gravitons, are by now quite systematized (see [54]).…”
