Highly luminescent water-dispersed silicon quantum dots for fluorometric determination of oxytetracycline in milk samples

Abstract: A fluorescent probe based on silicon quantum dots (SiQDs) was developed for the selective and sensitive detection of oxytetracycline (OTC) via the innerfilter effect (IFE). The watersoluble fluorescent SiQD was synthesized based on the reaction of 3aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and sodium citrate as precursors by the onepot hydrothermal process. The strong fluorescence emission of quantum dots (QDS) was obtained at 440 nm when excited at 350 nm and OTC had a broad absorption band between 200-400 nm. The e… Show more

“…The likely reason for this might be IFE or fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between CDs and OTC. 29 In order to further explore the mechanism of OTC quenching of the fluorescence, the fluorescence lifetime was analyzed. The results are shown in Fig.…”

“…The study was conducted as an experimental post-test only control group design, with the following two-step research implementation: Step 1, optimization - validation by spectrometric technique, and Step 2, detecting the presence of tetracycline in animal carcass using RTD [ 18 - 20 ]. Detection of tetracycline in meat was calculated using Eq.…”

“…At present, plentiful analytical techniques, including capillary electrophoresis (CE) [25], liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) [26], enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) [27], high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) [28], fluorometric assay [29] and so on, have been employed to quantitatively determine OTC. In these methods, FL sensing approaches have shown considerable superiorities over traditional analysis methods, such as a convenience of operation, an inexpensive cost, high sensibility and a rapid response, which are more appropriate for the FL sensing detection of OTC [30][31][32]. Hence, taking account of the current status of OTC, it is still indispensable to construct a new, reliable and efficient FL sensing method with which to monitor OTC in food.…”
