Incidences of industrial actions, which have frequently paralyzed learning at most of the educational institutions, are frequent in Lesotho. Despite the safeguards for collective bargaining in Lesotho, the incidences of industrial actions at higher institutions of learning in Lesotho are still common. The study was conducted to investigate the factors which contribute to industrial conflict at the National University of Lesotho. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the participants’ unionism experiences, semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. This study reveals that lack of transparency, inconsistent application of policies, lack of communication, lack of motivation, poor salaries, bias as well as poor working conditions are some of the factors that cause strikes at the institutions of higher learning in Lesotho.

This study aims to explore the practice of Islamic education leadership in the conflict state, in Pattani Southern Thailand, a region where the conflict is prolonged until the decades are between the Malay Muslim minority with the Thai government that is Buddhist. Using a qualitative approach with the method of case study, this study focused on Madrasah Pattani, with the head of madrasa, one teacher, and three alumni as informants. Interviews were conducted with FGD to find out the extent of leadership in Pattani Madrasas during the conflict. The results were found that in hard conditions, the madrasa could develop a strong madrasa vision by adopting a modern curriculum and integrate it with the Islamic curriculum of Islam. Although this method has been opposed to the entry of Buddhist teachers, the head of madrasah neutralise by making several activities to create social cohesion and build cooperation with universities abroad. Leadership mode is rare and difficult to implement in areas that are being hit by an ethno-political conflict on behalf of religion.

Innovative talent training as an immense and complex system engineering matters the universities, governments and the whole social environment. Taking students' perspective as the entry point, this paper focuses on the functions the university Counsellors play in the cultivation of innovative talents from students' perspective. The purpose is to clarify to what degree students have so far understood the cultivation of innovative talents, and what's the role of university counsellor in fostering the innovative talents from the students' perspective. A questionnaire survey conducted among students show that it is important for university counsellors to participate in the innovative talent cultivation. With reference to pertinent literature, we build a framework system for the cultivation of innovative talents in colleges and universities, based on which, a thorough analysis is made on the role the university Counsellors should play in cultivating the innovative talents.
