“…Finally, as in other cases, this novel surface rhenium carbonyl chemistry suggested a new convenient high-yield synthesis in water of the anion [Re 2 (CO) 6 (μ-OH) 3 ] - by cleavage of the four μ 3 -OH bridges of [Re(CO) 3 OH] 4 by the OH - nucleophile. This is an unexpected result because it was reported that very little chemistry has as yet unfolded for this cubane-type complex, due to its perfectly closed structure …”

“…Reaction of [Re(CO) 3 OH] 4 with K 2 CO 3 or [NEt 4 ]OH in Water and Synthesis of the New Model Complexes [NEt 4 ][Re 2 (CO) 6 ( μ -OH) x ( μ -OSiEt 3 ) 3- x ] ( x = 0, 1, or 2). Recently we have shown that, in some cases, reactions occurring on the silica surface can take place in a polar solvent with OH groups mimicking surface silanols . Therefore, when a water solution of [Re(CO) 3 OH] 4 and K 2 CO 3 (molar ratio K 2 CO 3 :Re = 10:1) is stirred at room temperature for 10 min [Re 2 (CO) 6 (μ-OH) 3 ] - is formed and can be easily extracted with a dichloromethane solution of [NEt 4 ]Cl.…”

“…They used poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as a cross-linker to immobilize Fe/Ni nanoparticles in nylon 6,6 and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The use of PEG, water soluble, is beneficial to surface modification for metal ion adsorption and reduction; in fact the easy reduction of metal salts in ethylene glycol [60,61], which mimic that occurring on the silica surface [62][63][64][65][66][67], was previously reported. A rapid hydrodechlorination of TCE with ethane as the main end product was observed by the Fe/Ni nanoparticles immobilized in PEG/PVDF or PEG/nylon 6,6.…”
