High Specific Surface Area γ-Al2O3 Nanoparticles Synthesized by Facile and Low-cost Co-precipitation Method

Abstract: Alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles (NPs) are particularly adsorbent NPs with a high specific surface area (SSA) that may well be utilized to clean water. In this study, pure γ-alumina NPs are successfully synthesized by the co-precipitation method, and the effect of ammonium bicarbonate concentration on the synthesized NPs is studied to find the optimum concentration to provide the highest capacity of copper ions removal from water. The results declare that spherical alumina NPs with average diameters in the range … Show more

“…The average diameter of laser-induced NPs formed in Ag-Cu-4 and Ag-Cu-5 samples can be calculated using Digimizer software and fitting a log-normal function as follows [46,47]: where x and y are the diameters of formed Ag-Cu NPs and their frequency counts, respectively, and y o , x 0 , A, x, and w are some constants obtained by fitting the log-normal function. Therefore, the average diameter of NPs, d, and data dispersions, σ d , are equal to [48,49]:…”

“…It can determine the shape and amplitude of the components, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the component, and even the value of component overlapping can affect the resulting spectrum. For more precise investigations, the LSPR absorption spectra of the laser-irradiated samples can be deconvoluted to their constituent peaks as a common method to find the center, full width at half maximum (FWHM), and intensity of every absorption peak [50]. In the deconvolution of the spectra to their constituent components, all the above-mentioned functions were considered and the best results obtained by fitting Gaussian functions are presented.…”

“…The AlÀ O vibrational band can be detected at 618 cm À 1 . [40] The NiONPs sample (Figure 2c) shows the occurrence of OÀ H stretching of alcohol, strong O=C=O of carbon dioxide, medium C=C stretching of alkene, and medium CÀ H bending of alkane at 3433, 2365, 1637, 1470, and 1382 cm À 1 , respectively. However, the medium bending of CÀ H bond of aldehyde, moderate stretching of CÀ O bond of second alcohol and strong bending of C=C bond of alkene were found at wavenumbers of 1106 and 990 cm À 1 , respectively.…”
