High-resolution X-ray flash radiography of Ti characteristic lines with multilayer Kirkpatrick–Baez microscope at the Shenguang-II Update laser facility

Abstract: High-resolution X-ray flash radiography of Ti characteristic lines with a multilayer Kirkpatrick-Baez microscope was developed on the Shenguang-II Update (SG-Ⅱ Update) laser facility. The microscope uses an optimized multilayer design of Co/C and W/C stacks to obtain a high reflection efficiency of the Ti characteristic lines while meeting the precise alignment requirement at the Cu Kα line. The alignment method based on dual simulated balls was proposed herein, which simultaneously realizes an accurate indica… Show more

“…where d = 0.4 nm for the molecular diameter and n = 2.43 × 10 −25 m −3 for the gas molecular density. The mean-free path λ can be estimated by bringing d and n into Equation (6). When Kn = 3 × 10 −8 approaches zero in Equation ( 5), it can be seen that the fluid is continuous.…”

“…Brightness is a key indicator of X-ray light sources. Higher brightness means that X-ray detection can obtain a higher space-time resolution in equal dimensions of energy [5][6][7]. Therefore, XFEL is acclaimed as the brightest light.…”

“…The rapid installation of the toroidal crystal in the laser facility is another important issue that needs to be considered to improve experimental efficiency. In this work, the dual positioning ball method, previously applied to the grazing Kirkpatrick-Baez microscope, was used to simultaneously indicate the ideal backlighter and object position of the toroidal crystal [32] and then realize the switch of the toroidal crystal system from the offline laboratory to the laser facility. Figure 4(a) shows the final mechanical structure of the toroidal crystal system after assembly, which includes the toroidal crystal, an aiming part, and an imagerecording part.…”

“…X-ray spectroscopic measurements of implosion targets containing medium-and high-Z tracer elements can be used to diagnose the shapes and intensity ratios of characteristic lines in laser-driven inertial confinement fusion (ICF) and high-energy-density physics (HEDP) experiments [1][2][3][4]. Such measurements are important tools for quantitative studies of the plasma temperature, density, and other implosion information [5][6][7].…”
