SummaryThe chromatographic behavior oftetraphenylporphyrin and some of its derivatives have been investigated by normal-and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography to investigate the mechanisms of retention ofporphyrins. The results obtained show that the polarity of the phenyl substituents, the solubility and solvation of the porphyrins, the nature of the central metal atom, and the nature and composition of the mobile phase affect the chromatographic behavior and adsorption oftetraphenylporphyrin derivatives.
