High‐flux PVDF/PVP nanocomposite ultrafiltration membrane incorporated with graphene oxide nanoribbones with improved antifouling properties

Abstract: A novel polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanocomposite membrane containing graphene oxide nanoribbones (GONRs) as a new nanofiller and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as pore former agent was prepared via phase inversion method. GONRs were prepared by oxidative unzipping of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via chemical approach. Chemical vapor deposition method was used to synthesis MWCNTs. The effects of adding GONRs and PVP into the casting solution on morphology, hydrophilicity and pure water flux (PWF) of t… Show more

“…The presence of a relatively large amount of PVP also resulted in the macropores's suppression [33,34]. The past studies also recorded the usefulness of PVP as an effective permeation flux promoter, and the thermodynamic effect played a dominant role during the membranes formations [35,36].…”

“…Thus, some of the PVP was rinsed during the immersion process with water and ethanol. However, considering the results of hydrophilicity characterization (WCA in Table 3 ) and an increase in membrane flux, this proves that some PVP still existed in the blend membrane, and it was predicted that part of the PVP was capsulated by PSf on the membrane surface [ 38 , 43 , 44 ].…”

“…10 Graphene oxide (GO) is a kind of graphene derivative of sheet structure with active oxygen functional groups, and it can provide abundant nucleation and anchoring reaction sites for grafting modified materials. [11][12][13][14][15] Wang et al 16 used phytic acid (PA) to modify GO for the improvement of interlayer distance and the dispersibility of GO in water-based EP. Zhu et al 17 prepared polyaniline/GO (PANI/GO) composite using in-situ polymerization.…”
