Higgs decays as a window into the dark sector

Abstract: A light vector boson, Z d , associated with a "dark sector" U (1) d gauge group has been introduced to explain certain astrophysical observations as well as low energy laboratory anomalies. In such models, the Higgs boson may decay into X + Z d , where X = Z, Z d or γ. Here, we provide estimates of those decay rates as functions of the Z d coupling through either mass-mixing (e.g. via an enlarged Higgs mechanism) or through heavy new fermion loops and examine the implied LHC phenomenology. Our studies focus on… Show more

“…To avoid the tight constraints on new long-range forces, a "dark Higgs" S with a nonzero vacuum expectation value can give a nonzero mass to the A 0 . An A 0 with a sub-GeV mass can be probed at beam dumps and colliders, and with measurements of the muon anomalous magnetic moment, supernova cooling, and rare meson decays [140,[151][152][153][154][155][156][157][158][159][160][161][162][163][164][165][166]; see Fig. 12 and, e.g., [134] for a recent review.…”

“…The possibility of h → Z D Z D through Higgs-to-darkHiggs mixing or h → ZZ D through Z-Z D mass mixing (which is also induced by the above-mentioned kinetic mixing) was discussed in [177] and [165,166], respectively, with both occurring, for example, in hidden-valley models [32,135].…”

“…We note that the light vectors of the hidden dynamics in our model may contribute to novel rare Higgs decay signals [56]. Also, present-day annihilation of W h in the Galactic halo may lead to potential GeV-scale indirect detection signals.…”

“…The present paper is the generalization of the previous works [47][48][49], were various aspects of phase transitions in s-wave holographic superconductor theory with ordinary matter sector coupled to the dark matter one have been elaborated. One expects that dark matter authorizes a part of a larger particle sector interacting with the visible matter and not completely decoupled [50][51][52][53][54][55].…”
