Hexagonal Split Ring Resonator Enclosed Circular Split Ring Resonator Inspired Dual-Band Antenna for Sub-6 GHZ 5g Nr and Ieee 802.11BA/BE Applications

Abstract: In this article, a novel Hexagonal Split-Ring Resonator enclosed Circular Split-Ring Resonator (HSRR-CSRR) inspired printed antenna is presented for sub-6 GHz 5G NR and IEEE 802.11ba/be applications. The proposed antenna comprises an HSRR-CSRR and a D-SHSRR metamaterial unit cell with a partial ground plane. The designed antenna is printed on a low-cost FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant ε r of 4.4, thickness of 1.6 mm, and loss tangent of 0.02. An HSRR-CSRR metamaterial structure is designed to get the t… Show more

“…This technology of Wi-Fi 6 has become quite popular as it is capable of providing the maximum data rate of up to 9.6 Gb/s while maintaining strong connections even when more and more devices are added [3]. Further, this technology of Wi-Fi 6 has many advantages like reliability, efficiency, flexibility, security, and scalability of the network [4] for better working of the complex network with a high density of interconnected systems working parallelly. To cover Wi-Fi6 along with the existing WLAN/WiMAX technologies, various multiband or wideband antennas have * Corresponding author: Kamlesh Patel (kpatel@south.du.ac.in).…”

“…Although limitations like narrow bandwidth, impedance mismatch, and poor gain are quoted on conventional patch antennas, there are various advancements made on different sections of patch antennas to overcome their constraints. The implementation of fractal structures in the conventional patch antennas will miniaturize the size of the antenna and allow the antenna to operate from lower to higher frequency [2][3][4]; employing Flame Retardant 4 (FR4) as its dielectric medium for better reliability and mechanical strength [5]; implementation of Split ring resonators to the antenna design will engage LC tuning circuit which enhance the radiation effects of the antenna [6]; incorporating CPW feed and ground may enhance the bandwidth ratio and impedance bandwidth of the antenna [7].…”
