Heterogeneous phase equilibrium in the ethane-n-dodecane system

Abstract: of viscosity given by the present correlation and the values computed by Dean and Stiel's (3)equations. This may be attributed to inherent errors in the method of determination of the pseudocritical constants (3). In Figure 1, a regular trend is noticed between the limits of the two pure components. This clearly brings out the effect of mixture composition on viscosity of the Freon-12-Freon-22 vapor mixture system. CONCLUSIONThe present correlation facilitates design of engineering systems, as viscosity inform… Show more

“…A more complete picture of the phase equilibria, especially the phase diagram, can be obtained with high-pressure view cells, sometimes equipped with sampling valves for all phases (Rodrigues et al, 1968;Lee and Kohn, 1969;Kalra et al, 1978;Tiffin et al, 1978;Kohn et al, 1980;Legret et al, 1980;Li et al, 198 1 ;Meskel-Lesavre et al, 198 1 ;Gasem and Robinson, 1985;Hsu et al, 1985;Nagarajan and Robinson, 1986;Anderson et al, 1986;Bufkin et al, 1986). “…Without exception, the product compounds were liquids under ambient conditions, thereby precluding the facile application of the dynamic extraction approach to measuring solubility employed in our studies of TMSP esters (30). Instead, the affinity of each of the compounds for CO 2 was evaluated by measuring the amount of CO 2 that partitions into each at pressures from 30 to 90 bar at a constant temperature (40 C) (35). Figure 2 shows the amounts of CO 2 incorporated into the ligand-rich phase in each case, a direct reflection of the compatibility of the ligands with CO 2 .…”
