“…The falciform defect is variable and may range from a 'window', or discreet aperture, to a 'guy rope', or complete absence of the falciform with the ligamentum teres acting as a constricting band (as in our case). scan [Walker 1995]. The herniated viscus is most commonly small bowel however large bowel and omentum have also been reported (Figs.…”

“…Plain abdominal series will show signs indicative of small bowel obstruction, however abdominal CT, in addition to more accurately diagnosing and localizing small bowel obstruction 8 and its complications, may aid in diagnosing falciform ligament hernias. 9 The demonstration of proximal small bowel dilatation with particular prominence at the hepatic hilum extending to the falciform fissure and collapsed bowel loops to the left of the fissure is strongly suggestive of a herniation through the falciform ligament. 3 Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is now considered the gold standard operation for patients with gallstone disease and is the most common laparoscopic operation performed.…”

“…Many authors have reported that accurate diagnosis of small bowel obstruction can be made by performing an abdominal CT, and Walker and Baer [10] reported the first CT demonstration of this particular strangulation of the small bowel through the falciform ligament [9].…”
