Hepatoprotective effects of Panax notoginseng: Ginsenosides -Re and —Rg1 as its active constituents in D-galactosamine/lipopolysaccharide-induced liver injury

“…From the results obtained in this study, we concluded that hepatoprotective activity of MR2 should be exerted both through an inhibition of TNF-a production by activated macrophages and through a direct inhibition of apoptosis induced by TNF-a. Pre- viously, on evaluation of the hepatoprotective effect of P. notoginseng on D-GalN/LPS-induced liver injury in mice, ginsenoside Rg 1 was identified as one of its active constituents [4] and was found in Vietnamese ginseng also with rather high content [1]. Thus, the hepatoprotective effect of Vietnamese ginseng could be concluded to be due to its saponin constituents, which may be useful in treatment of liver diseases in human beings.…”
