Hemşirelik Dördüncü Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Beyin Göçüne Yönelik Tutumlarının Yordayıcısı Olarak Kariyer Karar Verme ve Kariyer Karar Verme Yetkinlikleri

Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate the career decision-making and career decision-making competencies as a predictor of nursing fourth grade students' attitudes towards brain drain. The nursing department of a state university was held on 20 December 2020-20 January 2021 with 90 fourth year students. The data were collected by "Student Introduction Form", "Attitude Scale Towards Brain Drain of Nursing Students", "Career Decision Scale", "Career Decision Competence Scale". The increase in scale scores, respectively; it shows that attitudes towards brain drain increase, students can make decisions about their careers, students see themselves competent in making career decisions. In order to conduct the study, permission from the scale owners, ethics committee and institution, and informed consent from the participants were obtained. The general brain drain scale mean score of the students was found to be high (51.15±11.31), the scale scores of the student nurses with nuclear family structure and career goals were higher (p<0.05). It was determined that as their academic success, career counseling requirements increased, their attitudes towards brain drain increased (p<0.05). While a significant relationship was found between attitudes towards brain drain and career decision-making competence (p<0.05), no relationship was found between career decision (p>0.05). It was observed that the scales, subscales used in the study explained 39% of the variance regarding attitude scores towards brain drain (p<0.05, R2= 0.39). It is recommended to provide professional counseling to students on career decision and competence.
