Abstract: Background Hemoglobin (Hb) measurement is a conventional test during perinatal visits. Hb concentration is related to iron supplement. “…A study that used Mendelian randomization found a causal relationship between increased systemic Fe status and increased prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus by analyzing serum Fe, ferritin, transferrin and transferrin saturation levels in 74,124 type 2 diabetes mellitus cases and 824,006 controls 48 .
