In recent years, many cancer treatment strategies, such as photothermal therapy (PTT), have played a crucial role in confronting the major bottleneck of gastric cancer variability and complexity. However, it is still a challenge to effectively prolong the residence time of drugs in the tumor region to achieve a therapeutic effect on gastric cancer. Here, we fabricated innovative, intelligent, multifunctional core@shell magnetic nanoprobes with active targeting and real-time image-guided PTT capabilities. Superparamagnetic Mn@Co magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized using a seed growth strategy. After the process of amphiphilic polymer coating, chemical covalent coupling, and physical loading of drugs, the final PMA/Mn@Co-S-S-BSA@ICG-FA nanoprobes were successfully constructed for MRI/NIR imaging and PTT treatment of MGC-803 tumor-bearing mice in the presence of 808 nm laser irradiation. Benefiting from their good biocompatibility and long-term stability, the synthesized nanoprobes exhibited good tumor-targeting capability and photothermal therapeutic efficacy to inhibit gastric tumor growth in mice under 808 nm laser irradiation. The strategy presented in our study offers controllable delivery and release of distinctly targeted indocyanine green (ICG) and outstanding tumor inhibiting efficacy of PTT, creating a promising avenue for effective cancer treatment.

Nanomaterials, especially superparamagnetic nanomaterials, have recently played essential roles in point-of-care testing due to their intrinsic magnetic, electrochemical, and optical properties. The inherent superparamagnetism of magnetic nanoparticles makes them highly sensitive for quantitative detection. Among the various magnetic detection technologies, frequency mixing technology (FMT) technology is an emerging detection technique in the nanomedical field. FMT sensors have high potential for development in the field of biomedical quantitative detection due to their simple structure, and they are not limited to the materials used. In particular, they can be applied for large-scale disease screening, early tumor marker detection, and low-dose drug detection. This review summarizes the principles of FMT and recent advances in the fields of immunoadsorption, lateral flow assay detection, magnetic imaging, and magnetic nanoparticles recognition. The advantages and limitations of FMT sensors for robust, ultrasensitive biosensing are highlighted. Finally, the future requirements and challenges in the development of this technology are described. Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) is an emerging non‐invasive tomographic technique based on the response of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) to oscillating drive fields at the center of a static magnetic gradient. In contrast with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which is driven by uniform magnetic fields and projects the anatomic information of the subjects, MPI directly tracks and quantifies MNPs in vivo without background signals. Moreover, it does not require radioactive tracers and has no limitations on imaging depth. This review first introduces the basic principles of MPI and important features of MNPs for advanced imaging sensitivity, spatial resolution, and targeted biodistribution. The latest research on optimized MPI tracers is reviewed based on their material composition, physical properties, and surface modifications. Since all the imaging benefits have led to a series of promising biomedical applications, we also discuss recent relational practices of MPI in vascular abnormalities, including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular systems, and cancers. Finally, some considerations of obstructions and recent progress closely related to the clinical translation of MPI are summarized to provide possible direction for future research and development.This article is protected by copyright.
