“…The number of our patients is not higher can be accepted as a limitation. Although some authors reported that the effects of hypothyroidism on quality of life were different in male and female patients (34), some authors stated that the gender factor was ineffective (35). “…Although there is an association between hypothyroidism and obesity [38], there is still a lack of evidence to explain the high prevalence of the former among women with lipoedema [32]. Because hypothyroidism, like lipoedema, may cause health issues such as fatigue, weight gain, feeling cold, and sleep problems [39] we recommend health care professionals to bring attention to, and to evaluate thyroid function among women with lipoedema. Furthermore, over 17% of participants in this study reported having fibromyalgia, which is a higher prevalence than reported in females in the general populations that ranges from 2.4 to 6.8% [40].…”

“…Since thyroid hormones are essential for normal growth and energy metabolism, thyroid dysfunction can have profound adverse consequences [ 4 ]. Despite the increased awareness and the improvements in medical management of this disease, depression, mood disturbance and poor health-related quality of life (QoL) is pretty common among hypothyroid patients [ 5 , 6 ]. Hypothyroid patients also have reported to have higher blood pressure than their euthyroid counterparts [ 7 ].…”
