“…The clinical inflammatory evaluation was conducted in a single‐blind manner and graded using a score. The scoring criteria were as follows: 0: normal mucosa without hemorrhage, ulceration, or abscess; 1: moderate erythema or hyperemia with no evidence of hemorrhage, ulceration, or abscess; 2: severe erythema and hyperemia; the presence of hemorrhage, small ulcerations, or scar tissue without abscess; 3: severe erythema and hyperemia with the presence of hemorrhage, extensive ulceration, and abscess (Lima et al, 2005; Tanideh et al, 2017).…”

“…The results suggest that excision of the wound leads to oxidative stress and topical administration of P. atlantica gels causes remarkable changes in the antioxidant parameters during wound closure via pro-oxidative and antioxidant activities which can reduce oxidative stress. In another study, the healing effect of an essential oil extracted from P. atlantica hull was evaluated by Tanideh et al (2017) for the treatment of oral mucositis in golden hamsters.…”

“…Modern medicine recognizes herbalism derived from natural sources as an alternative medicine, phytotherapy in many diseases and a preventive method against complications that result in chemotherapy-induced OM. Calendula officinalis (C. officinalis) (7), Hypericum perforatum (8), Pistacia atlantica and Zizyphus jujuba have been used to accelerate the healing of OM (9,10).…”
