Hbim in a Semantic 3d Gis Database

Abstract: This work describes the different attempts and the consequent results derived from the integration of an HBIM model into an already structured spatial database (DB) and its 3D visualisation in a GIS project. This study is connected to the European ResCult (Increasing Resilience of Cultural Heritage) project where a DB for multiscale analyses was defined. To test the methodology proposed, the case study of Santa Maria dei Miracoli church in Venice was chosen since it represents a complex architectural heritage … Show more

“…When considering the binomial HBIM/GIS, the studies usually try to manage the object-oriented model into the GIS environment in order to offer system support for planning and building, simplifying thematic analysis and synthetic elaborations, technical-economical evaluations, virtual restoration hypothesis and so on [19][20][21][22]. It has also to be considered that, as in this case we are facing with an existing building, it is fundamental not only to think about the integration between the standards, but also the geo-referencing accuracy of the existing building in a 3D GIS environment.…”

“…Sci. 2020, 10, 1356 3 of 20 solved lately through different solutions as, for example, the "FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) Exporter for Revit" plugin [17,21], which allows to keep the spatial reference when exporting from Revit to ArcMap, ArcScene or QGIS, placing the building in the correct position.…”

“…It is worthy to point out the recent study on the 14 c. bridge across the Adda River at Lecco, which besides the elaboration of the HBIM themes of 3D survey and parametric modelling through NURBS , has developed the topic of linking BIM model and geospatial data useful in the infrastructure domain (Barazzetti and Banfi 2017). The relationship ifcOWL-CityGML is being further explored in several ongoing researches (Matrone et al 2019).…”

“…Some of those advantages are: the archive of heritage information from dense survey and other sources in detailed semantic 3D models; the heritage analysis in connection to the context and other distant heritage; the support to heritage management and risk prevention (e.g. Kilsedar et al, 2019, Matrone et al, 2019; no duplication of data collection and representation efforts; processes optimization. Some work will be still needed to reach those ambitious aims.…”
