Has_circ_0055625 from circRNA profile increases colon cancer cell growth by sponging miR‐106b‐5p

Abstract: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are endogenous noncoding RNAs and play important roles in cancer; however, the roles of circRNAs in colon cancer are far from clear. The circRNA expression profile in colon cancer tissues was analyzed by microarray. The data from microarray showed that there were 198 upregulated and 136 downregulated circRNAs in colon cancer tissues. Among the top 10 upregulated circRNAs, hsa_circ_0055625 (circ_0055625) was confirmed to be significantly upregulated in colon cancer tissues. Further anal… Show more

“…In fact, many circRNAs have been reported as biomarkers for tumor diagnosis or therapy [26, 27]. For example, by studying more than 100 gastric cancer tissues with paired adjacent no tumorous tissues and plasma, hsa-circ-002059 was found to be down-regulated in gastric cancer tissues and plasma [28].…”

“…Circ_0055625 was upregulated in CC to promote tumor growth and invasion via circ_0055625-miR-106b-5p-integrin β8 (ITGB8) axis. ITGB8 is a member of the integrin family, which binds through its α subunit and plays major roles in regulating cell invasion [54]. ITGB8 was targeted through increased expression of hsa_circ_0046701 sponging miR-142-3p to promote glioma progression [55].…”

“…For the selected examples, circRNA_33287 worked as a key regulator in osteogenic differentiation via sponging miR-214-3p [28]. Likewise, circ_0055625 plays a significant role in promoting CRC cells growth and metastasis by functioning as a miRNA sponge for miR-106b-5p [29]. In the current study, miR-183, a recognized oncogene [24], was found to be a downstream gene of circ_0026344 since it was negatively regulated by circ_0026344.…”
