Halogenidkatalyse bei Autoxydationsreaktionen

Abstract

Es wird an mehreren Beispielen gezeigt, daO Halogenidionen die Autoxydation katalysieren.In friiheren Mitteilungen uber ,,Polymerisationen und Polymerisationskatalysatoren" haben wir gezeigt, daO die polymerisationsauslosende Wirkung der a-Hydroxy-und a-Aminosulfone 1) durch Chlorid-und Bromidionen wesentlich beschleunigt wird. Ebenso konnen a-substituierte Thioather 2) und Mercaptane bzw. Thiophenole3) nur in Gegenwart von Halogenidionen (Cle und Bre) und Sauerstoff die Polymerisation von Vinylverbindungen auslosen. Bei p-Toluolsulfinsaure, die sowohl unter Sauerstoff als auch unter reinstem Stickstoff die Polymerisation von Methacrylsaure-methylester auszulosen verm?g4), wirken Chloridionen nur in Gegenwart von Sauerstoff, wahrend sie unter Stickstoff ohne EinfluD auf die Polymerisation sind4). Auf Grund dieser Befunde nehmen wir an, daO die Chlorid-und Bromidionen in die Autoxydationsreaktionen der Schwefelverbindungen eingreifen und auf diese Weise die Polymerisationsauslosung bewirken.Die katalytische Wirkung der Chlorid-und Bromidionen bei Oxydationsreaktionen haben wir bereits bei der oxydativen Anlagerung von biercaptanen und Thiophenolen an Olefine zu P-Hydroxysulfoxyden beobachtets). Wir haben nunmehr den EinfluB von Halogenidionen auf die Autoxydation der p-Toluolsulfinsaure in verschiedenen Losungsmitteln untersucht. Bei einigen Versuchen wurde gleichzeitig Kupferacetylacetonat zugesetzt, dessen polymerisationsbeschleunigende Wirkung wir bereits friiher festgestellt hatten'). Die Versuche wurden in einer Schuttelapparatur unter trockenem Sauerstoff bei 40" durchgefuhrt.
