Hall effects on MHD Couette flow in a rotating system

Abstract: Hall effects on the MHD Couette flow between two infinite horizontal parallel porous plates in a rotating system under the boundary layer approximations have been studied. One of the plate is held at rest and the other one moves with uniform velocity. An exact solution of governing equation has obtained in closed form. Asymptotic behavior of the solution has analyzed for large values of magnetic parameter, rotation parameter and Reynolds number. It is observed that a thin boundary layer is formed near the stat… Show more

“…Thus, in a rotating system, the effects of Hall current on MHD flow in parallel plate channels have been investigated by many researchers. Chandran et al [2], Katagiri et al [3], Ghosh and Pop [4], Ghosh [5], Gubanov and Lunkin [6] and Jana and Datta [7] have studied the MHD Couette flows between two parallel plates channel in a rotating system with Hall effects. Bhaskara and Bathaiah [8] have considered the Hall effects on MHD Couette flow through a porous straight channel.…”

“…Debnath et al (1979) studied the effect of Hall current on unsteady hydromagnetic flow past a porous plate in a rotating fluid system. Jana and Datta (1980) have discussed the combined effect of rotation and Hall current on MHD couette flow. The heat transfer characteristics have also been discussed, taking the viscous and Joule dissipation into account.…”

“…Hall current on the fluid flow have many applications in MHD power generation, nuclear power reactors, underground energy storage systems, and in several areas of astrophysical and geophysical interest. Keeping in view of this fact, Jana and Datta [13], Mandal et al [14], Ghosh and Pop [15], Hayat et al [16], Guchhait et al [17], Ghosh [18], Reddy and Bathaiah [19], Das et al [20], Chauhan and Agrawal [21], Seth et al [22,23] and Harisingh Naik et al [24] studied the effects of Hall current on MHD Couette flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid in a rotating system considering different aspects of the problem. Hossain [25] studied unsteady hydromagnetic free convection flow near an infinite vertical porous plate with the effect of Hall current.…”
